Specialist in Flush Diaphragms
Flush Diaphragm Technology (1)
Klay Instruments is specialized in Pressure and Level transmitters with Flush diaphragms for use in the Food & pharma, Pulp & paper and Water & waste water industries where clogging is a problem.
For all transmitters we use our Flush Diaphragm Technology FDT.

Advantages of Klay Level Transmitters
- Stainless Steel Diaphragm (1)
- Very strong
- Standard Polished
- Very flush with process
- No dead area (= Hygienic)
- Laser Welded Diaphragms (2)
- Tested by Helium (gas tight)
- No O-rings used.
- Very Sanitary (= Hygienic)
- Waves in diaphragm. Good resistance against pressure spikes (3)
- Sensing element welded (4)
- Tested by Helium gas
- No O-rings used
- Minimum oil filling (5)

Klay Competitors disadvantages
- Standard transmitter with ½“ BSP or NPT process connection.
(Mostly with aluminum electronics housing) - Pressure sensor
- “Seal” with diaphragm and much oil !
- Much oil filling. No temperature sensor right behind the diaphragm
- Very large diaphragm. Easy damaging because it is too large !

A fixed transmitter is screwed into a so called "seal". This seal is filled with a lot of oil. This system can easily be damaged and is very sensitive to changes in process temperature. Therefore this is not a reliable solution for level measurement in the pulp and paper industry !
Advantages of Klay Level Products… Continue.
Dis-advantage Ceramic flush diaphragms comparing with other producers
Ceramic Diaphragm (1)
- Not polished (raw)
- No protection against spikes
- Affected by Nitric Acid
- Not sanitary (Not flush 5mm dead area.)
- Bad with temperature shocks
O-ring (2)
- Must be replaced (due to CIP or SIP).
- Can not be replaced by customer
- O-ring “grows old”
- Not gas tight
Ceramic sensor (3)
- No high burst pressure (for levels)

KLAY Active Temperature Compensation…
- All Klay transmitters are getting an active temperature compensation in our factory.
